He was an atheist, and now he is Fr. Lazarus ELAnthony, a hermit coming from Australia to live in St. Anthony's Monastery in the deserts of the Red Sea, Egypt. Fr. Lazarus is telling the details of his trip to the Coptic orthodox faith in Monk's life series. His mother's death due to cancer pushed him to look to life from a different perspective; he read a book for a monk called Thomas Merton where he found the same circumstances. So, he decided to go to a monastery and be a monk, he went to an orthodox monastery in Russia, and while he was making a matanoya for St. Mary, he heard a voice talking to him saying;" I'll be you mother. " And she repeated it again saying:" you mother has dead, but I'll be your mother." He asked about St. Mary and knew a lot about her, then he decided to be baptized in the Coptic Orthodox Church. And now he is a hermit in a cave near to St. Anthony's Monastery in Egypt for over 14 years ago.
