I seldom read a whole book through. Anyway, I am attempting to WRITE a book, so I am pouring-through many books, and quoting from some of them.
Well, a book I picked up at a discount sale here in Erie is
Maloney, George A., S.J. (1981). Prayer of the Heart. Notre Dame, IN: Ave Maria Press.
Fr. Maloney is a Jesuit priest who writes extensively on Eastern Orthodox spirituality, and usually with balance and discretion. He is not overtly making a case for Catholicism in his books; he merely borrows insights from Orthodox spirituality.
So, he makes pretty good reading for either an Orthodox or non-Orthodox reader.
Perhaps someone better-read with me will be able to detect if there are any appreciable flaws in his work. He doesn\'t seem to push the Latin doctrines that make them unacceptable to the Orthodox.
Take care.
PS I hope the new Orthodox Study Bible is a success. God willing, it will be.
It seems to me it is bound to be an improvement on the Old Testament in whatever places where the Hebrew text behind the KJV is actually flawed (I don\'t know where that would be).
Anyway, God bless all.
Sincerely, Scott in Erie PA
