I gave an answer to the poll, and wanted to explain it a little, but could not find any place to make a post; therefore, here it is.
As the Reader at my former parish, I was at the readers stand in the pan-ethnic parish (AOA & GOA). Having finished the kathisma I stood back with my eyes closed listening to the woman who was the sole chanter, sing O Lord I Have Cried Out/ Psalm 41. Standing there that way it seemed as though I was behind the pillar of a cathedral, listening to a woman pour out her heart to God.
Obviously it\'s an experience I\'ll never forget; and for which I believe that chanting is not just chanting, but also prayer and singing. Anyway, aren\'t the Psalms prayers?
