I don\'t think there\'s a prohibition on Saturday weddings, but practically speaking, if people are going to be partying at the reception, maybe missing Vespers, maybe drinking too much, etc. are they preparing themselves for Liturgy on Sunday morning? I think the priest\'s concern might be a pastoral one.
