A Message from our Priest, Rev. Fr. John Pawelchack:

The Beginning of Great Lent.

It is the practice of the Orthodox Faith to Fast during the 4 Lenten periods; Great Lent, Nativity Fast, Fast for Sts. Peter and Paul and Dormition of the Theotokos. We are asked to fast from meat and dairy at least on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There are also Holy Days such as Holy Friday when we fast as much as our health and work allow.

I ask everyone to be aware of what they eat, but more so what they say and how often they pray. Try to start each day dedicated to God in prayer, to offer prayer for strength and people during the day, and to offer concerns and thanksgiving to God at night. Consecrate your souls and lives to God's care and protection. Ask for the Mother of God to intercede for all those in need. Treat those closest to you as you treat strangers and strangers as those most beloved of Jesus.

A new Bulletin for all of Lent will be forthcoming next week. Please note the services at Holy Resurrection in Berlin. God is giving us all the opportunity to make the most of our lives during this fasting period. Please also see His infinite love and grace, plus mercy and abiding presence in your hearts, minds and spirits. God Keep All of You in His Holiness!

God Bless and Sustain You During this Fast till together we reach the Holy Pascha. +FJP
