Today we take a dive into the deep sea and fish around for the interesting legends and traditions concerning the creatures swimming deep below. In the 16th century there were stories of strange sea creatures resembling clerics in Europe, in addition to Hans Christian Andersen's original Little Mermaid fairy tale.
And while many are aware of the original fairy tale, I think few people know of the Irish saint who inspired it.
