Have you ever wondered why on the Sunday before Christmas we read a long list of names in the Gospel? Many of us do not know the histories and stories of the people listed. Would it shock you to find that Christ’s ancestors included murderers, prostitutes, adulterers, and other flawed characters? If we examine the stories of the people in the genealogy of Jesus we may find that they resonate with our own complex and even messy family histories. This advent season the GOA Center for Family Care invites you to our new video series Finding Our Roots in Jesus’ Family Tree with the hope that learning more about these biblical figures will encourage all of us to experience more deeply the redeeming love of Jesus this Christmas season.
