We often hear less about the women of the desert in early Christianity, but that's not to say that they do not exist. One such figure is Syncletica of Palestine, an almost anonymous figure whose name means "nobleman's daughter." She came from a wealthy family and, upon a visit to the Holy Land, decided to give up her temporal wealth in order to become rich in God. She is not to be confused with the more well-known Amma Syncletica of Alexandria, but her story is no less relevant.
