Hello,my name is Joel and I\'m from Bakersfield ,Ca. I am a baptized Roman Catholic but,am now attending an Orthodox Church. After years of not doing God\'s will and pretty much giving our Lord the cold shoulder,I realized I was nothing without him. I wanted to feel the warmth of our Lord\'s embrace once again. I had an urgent need to fall to my knees and repent. I did just that and dedicated my life to God. This is when I encountered the Orthodox church. I walked in and prayed. I prayed that I wanted to recieve God\'s truth and worship him like the ancient christian church did. Deep down inside,I felt that God had answered my prayer. I felt peace and warmth flow through me like never before. Was it God aknowledging my prayer ? I say it was. Now I am here to stay,God willing.God has been merciful to me.
That\'s when I decided to worship God in the Orthodox church and, once I am chrismated, recieve the holy sacraments. God has preserved the Orthodox church as vassal for conveying his truth.
Blessing to all !

Welcome! I used to go through Bakersfield on the way to Yosemite. Yosemite being on of my favorite places on earth. I'm a recent convert to orthodoxy (from protestant denomination). I'm learning so much. I'ts been a great adventure. Hope it goes well for you too.

Hi I converted to Orothodox 43 yrs ago the path is very hard but worth it. My walk has been long and hard but being able to go to church and be there on feast days is wonderful. Having our saint to help us is so wonderful. Now a little more about me my godfather was Fr. Seraphim Rose and I spent many hours talking to him when he had the book store in San Francisco and there he was my teacher in the orthodox faith. Welcome home.
