Hello to everyone.
I suppose I should say in my introduction essentially what I said to the administrators in my application to join.
I am not an Orthodox Christian but I have been in contact with a priest for a bit and have been to a service now and again in the past. I am seriously considering beginning to look at conversion.
I am here because I thought it would be nice to not only talk to a priest but to talk to other members of the Orthodox community from around the country and probably some from around the world.
I thank you and the administrators in advance for not only allowing me on the site but also in helping me grow and learn about the faith I hope to one day be apart of.

Welcome here, Jason. I also started my way here when I still was on my way to Orthodoxy. Asking your questions will not be helpful only to you, but to us all who share in the particular discussion.

Hello! There is so much to learn in Orthodoxy and if your name implies anything, you should really love learning all of it! The thing that I have loved so much about Orthodoxy is that there is so much to learn about. I am still learning and I ahve been Orthodox for about 13 years! Lord have Mercy!

I am actually not converting from anything. I mean to say I don\'t have a faith I am converting away from.
As my name implies I do love history, in fact my interest in the history of Christianity was what first got me researching Orthodoxy.
It is interesting to me because here in the west so many think Catholicism is the, \'first,\' form that the religion took. I am no expert but I have read enough that I eventually learned that Catholicism is at best a significantly later second.

Righto, the Roman / Western Church branched off from the Orthodox Church some time after Christ established it.
Welcome to Orthodox Circle by the way.
