I was raised and baptized in the Church of the Brethren, and was ordained therein; I served as a pastor for a couple of years before returning to graduate school for my library science degree. I was Brethren for a little more than 25 years.
Easter Vigil 1980, I was confirmed Roman Catholic, sang in the choir, and was a Lay Advocate in the diocesan Marriage Tribunal up until my becoming a catechuman at St Innocent (another 25 years).
On October 23, 2005, Fr Mel Gimmaka Chrismated me into Orthodoxy. Here, too, I sing in the choir, and within the year will become the parish's librarian. I have joined the Orthodox Peace Fellowship and the Orthodox Fellowship of the Transfiguration.
After nearly 40 years as a librarian (in two different colleges, a prison, and lastly a public library) I retired. I have published numerous essays, some poetry, and some research. I maintain my wife's small business Web site and a couple of blogs.
