I\'m looking for a good book on the history of Serbia and surrounding area.
Preferably something that will at least go as far back as pre-Ottoman days.
Anyone know of or have any good recommendations?
Thanks!

Dear MitchC:
I checked online at Google.
Maybe you could start on Serbian Church
history at:
www.serbianorthodoxchurch.net/
historyofchurch/
I think someday I would try to obtain a copy
of the Prologue from Ochrid.
They tell me it\'s the standard book for
Serbian Orthodox spirituality.
Take care.
God bless you!
Always,
Scott

I don\'t have time to read as much as you might on Serbia. I\'m more interested if something better happens here in America than reading world history. I do read philsophy and psychology though. If you want to know Serbian history, why not contact a Serbian Orthodox priest; look on the internet; find a Serbian Orthodox church somewhere close to your State in Google. They could probably tell you better what you are looking for. As for Serbian spirituality, I have been told The Prologue from Ochrid is the classic text.
Maybe reading that book will help you better understand the cultural history of Serbia.
God bless you; and I hope you find all you\'re looking for in life, dear friend.
Always,

Wow, these posts go way back...
In case the question is still alive, I would recommend The Byzantine Commonwealth by Dimitri Obolensky.
