One year ago, a group of Orthodox Christians from our five local Orthodox parishes in Harrisburg began to ask the question - \"How can we make a coordinated and deliberate outreach to our Capitol Region?\" The answer to this question eventually came in the form of a dynamic outreach taking place in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where a small and determined Orthodox community was becoming \"well-known\" for their Agia Sophia Coffee House. Thus began our journey to where we stand today, on the verge of bringing this same coffee house & bookstore concept to reality in the heart of downtown Harrisburg.
We have obtained exclusive negotiating rights on a property at a prime location in central Harrisburg, but need to raise 80k in start up costs before we can purchase it. You can view the Harrisburg coffee shop website here - www.agiasophiaharrisburg.com
Please consider a one-time (tax-deductible) financial contribution and help make this dream a reality! You can donate online on the Harrisburg Agia Sophia website. We can reach our goal if 1,000 supporters donate $80; or 400 donate $200, or 160 donate $500. NOTE - The property owner is requesting a balance sheet showing our ability to fund the concept by December 15, 2009.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ always involves a risk, yet we are given the command by Him to \"go forth\". This project is a modest attempt to fulfill this command - to meet our neighbors where they gather to live, work, and make the laws that affect our lives, and to provide a sacred space, where they can come into contact with Orthodoxy, not to mention get a great cup of coffee!

My prayers for the success of your endeavor!
Out of curiosity, how did you get to 80k as the \"magic\" number? I assume this is a year's lease, plus 1 year's salary for the manager, plus the estimated cost of equipment, consumables, and utilities for a year?
