Another coffee-hour function is sitting around reminiscing about departed friends and relatives, Orthodox and non-Orthodox.
I lost a high-school friend and a college friend a couple of months ago, and I realize how helpful it can be just to remember and tell stories.
I invite everyone to share grief, laughter and anything else related to loss. Tell your stories; we\'re here to listen and to laugh and cry with you.

The explanation I got back in the 1960s was that for God everything is an eternal present, so He sees and hears everything that ever was and ever will be and knows all our prayers.
I am missing an old college friend named Maryse Manelli, who died last year. For a long time I was the only one at school who knew about her epilepsy and I never quite got over the fact that I wasn\'t there when she had the grand mal seizure that upset and frightened a lot of girls in the dormitory.
Maryse was an absolute genius who didn\'t like to take her anti-seizure meds because they slowed down her mind.
