Can any one with their own personal website recommend the best free host? I\'d like to set up a site, but I want to try it out first to see if I would use it before paying for something. Thanks.

This is not a free host, but Hostmonster.com is powerful and around $7 per month. My own host, Infolaunch.com, is $10 per month for a powerful enough package, and among other things handles things in a way that you won\'t be blacklisted by Christian filtering software because you happen to share a host with porn sites. (This happens a lot with free hosts; most free hosts that I know of tend to be blocked by \"parental control,\" and I\'m paying in part to have a host that actively works to not have me be blocked.)

I can set you up with ftp access and a subdomain at americanbiodiesel.com if you would like. If it gets particularly big I might need you to get your own space but otherwise I have more than enough resources to spare with it.
I use hostfolks.com and it\'s like $8 a month but you wouldn\'t need to contribute to that.

I have always found www.geocities.com very easy to use and you can upgrade easily to a paid account if you want. Unfortunately my site isn\'t working right now as I tried to be clever and it backfired on me but I do recommend it as very easy to use (no ftp and things like that).

ICDSoft is the preferred hosting service in my geeky house :) You can pay $6 for 1000MB or $10 for up to 10,000MB.
I like using Wordpress for the site because it is so easy to use.

for database and other web languages support as well as not having access cut if your site gets big. It\'s also nice not to have ads shoved into my sites.
