Hello everyone! Today at our church council meeting we were discussing our building fund (we desperately need a bigger, newer church). Someone voiced concern that people keep giving and giving but aren\'t seeing any results. This brought us to the conclusion that we need something like a big donation thermometer that we color in as we make progress toward our monetary goals. I think it\'s a great idea and will help, but I\'m trying to imagine a big red thermometer in our tiny kiosk ... Can anyone help me come up with a different visual that would have the same effect? Maybe a rung-less ladder reaching up, up toward a beautiful church, and a certain amount of money will add a rung? lol. The whole point is to NOT be cheesy, but you get my idea?--something besides a thermometer. Just thought I\'d throw it out there. Thanks for giving it a thought.
May the Lord God bless you all as we approach Great Lent.

It was awhile since my childhood church built a new building - but I think we used a professional architectural drawing of the new building and colored it in as it neared completion. Since one of the architects was a member of the congregation, it was done very beautifully.

I\'ve see an outline of the church where cut-out bricks were glued in place to fill it in at every level. Just figure how many bricks it takes to fill the space by how much money you need to collect.
