earworms

I wish it were so. Except that I only remember the parts where I mess up and cause a train-wreck in the choir. Especially the time I screwed up \"...union without confusion\" And then to top it off, I start to giggle. Lord have mercy ( X a gazillion with prostration)

I get \"earworms\" all the time. Mostly liturgical music earworms! You can condition yourself to do that, JustinMiller, even if you don\'t know that many hymns yet. Concentrate on the ones you DO know. And in case you and others weren\'t aware of this, we as Orthodox have many \"model hymns\"--hymns whose melodies serve for many different texts. If you look at the rubrics (in Greek anyway) you will see this. For example, the melody for \"Epephanis Simeron\"--the kontakion for Epiphany--is a model hymn for several other texts. So in many cases, if you learn one hymn, the model, you learn the tune for several others as well.

Nothing is more annoying than a kid\'s TV theme song in your brain. I went a whole week with Dragon Tales in my brain.

The worse possible \"earworm\" songs are the theme from \"Green Acres\" or the the from \"Gilligan\'s Island\", it seems to me. Gilligan will never get off that island; and Arnold is still the smartest pig in Green Acres. That\'s how it seems to me, at least.

I was flipping channels last night and came upon a Barry Manilow concert on PBS. He was talking about how early in his career, he wrote jingles. Here are the 2 that he sang. \"I am stuck on Band Aid, the Band Aid\'s stuck on me.\" and \"Just like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.\" So now I have the Band Aid jingle stuck in my head. UGH!

No, I have the gold fish cracker commercial stuck in my head all the time, it\'s crazy I\'ll just start singing it out of nowhere sometimes! The worst part is I have a terrible habit of singing the wrong words, so until my sister corrected me recently I was singing \"jungle fishes\" instead of \"golden fishes\"!
