Dear friends, It\'s not that no other Orthodox Christians have ever made translations of the Old or New Testaments into English language. Have you heard of Albanian Orthodox Bishop Fan Noli\'s New Testament English translation? It is available online; try Noli New Testament on Google.
Perhaps those of you who have studied the NT more than me and have compared the King James or other version with the Bible can tell me what you think. I\'m sure few of us have enough time to do extensive Bible study, but some people do read the Bible in many versions. What I do when I read the Bible is sporadic. If I read in some book that such and such verse is poorly translated, I check out various versions to see if there is actually a difference in meaning or problem; if I have to, I get out a Greek NT and see if something is being handled improperly.
The only verse that I am aware of where there is a major translation problem is Hebrews 6:6 in the King James Version. It has the word \"if\", which is not present in the Greek text. And the verse is poorly translated here. I think maybe the RSV and NIV also have the word if. The NASB is better translated in this verse, ISTM.
Take care.
Always,
Scott

Dear Orthodox
PS Are any of you members of the Albanian
Orthodox Church? Or maybe the Romanian
Orthodox Church? Or Serbian or Ukrainian?
The larger Orthodox churches in America
are Greek and Russian. But there are some
Ukrainian and Romanian jurisdictions, and
Serbian, too. I gather the Albanian diocese
one is smaller, and maybe a subsidy of the
OCA like I think the Romanian episcopate is.
God bless all of you, regardless of which
Orthodox jurisdiction you are in. No
matter which one, should perhaps you be
even in one like HOCNA, which some
consider schismatic. (I don\'t want to judge
and say which group is this or that; to me,
all Orthodox groups are good, even if some
say they are schismatic. To me, they\'re all
doing better than we former Protestants of
the west, who all said (believed) FILIOQUE
and we DID NOT KNOW AND BETTER ... and
Father forgive us for WE KNOW NOT WHAT
WE DO ....
Merry days to all of you, anyway.
God save us.
Scott
