With the newly announced fee for Orthodox Circle which of the following approaches do you see as being the best...
Remember Ninos is running Orthodox Circle for 4000 members on his own. But also consider the value of Orthodox Circle to people who may be fit into one of the following categories. Those interested in Orthodoxy / searching for faith. People who havent been to Church in a while and are on the fence about joining OC. People struggling to pay there bills who could really use the community here. College students who are on a very tight budget but who would benifit greatly from OC. Those are only a few examples. Whats your opinion?
A five dollar monthly fee.
A twenty dollar yearly fee.
Keep Orthodox Circle free.
Donations.
A free area - Forums, blogs, im etc... and a Paid Subscription area -Business Directory, Media etc...

I say make premium accounts. Maybe premium accounts could even include IM, while leaving IM out of the normal accounts.

I would imagine that if enough people considered OC of value, the business directory would generate enough revenue to fund OC. Ninos, would this be correct?

I think it\'s a bug in the code, when I look at the results it shows 6 possible choices with Free area vs. Paid Subscription repeated.. I changed it to 7 fields, then 6 then 5 while editing it and somehow the code for 6 fields must have remained for the results portion while I was editing. HTML and BBC can be a bit buggy like that...

Also, what does everyone think about a $20 yearly fee for basic services and then an additional $2.50 per month for the business features? That would amount to Business users paying $50 a year (as opposed to $60) and those basic users to pay $20 a year. Just an idea really, I\'m brainstorming...

JustinMiller has some great ideas in his Blog as well. He suggests having a single family based subscription fee as well as a pro-rate for people in different economic systems.

For me this site is worth the small subscription fee. The only problem is that my family has 5 members with two more to be added soon. At some point this becomes a bit of an item to be budgeted for.
I hope that this membership fee doesn\'t keep inquirers from joining. I\'m in for the ride, though.

You know I never noticed this because I have an add blocker built in to my anti-virus and firewall software but there are ads built into the instant messenger. I\'m at a loss here. These are regular commercial ads.. Can anyone explain? I was under the impression there weren\'t any ads in OC and there weren\'t going to be any.

Two thoughts:
1. A one month free trial for new users.
2. Businesses can pay to advertise on OC and thus have ads on any of the OC pages. You\'d be surprised how much impact exposure to an international community of over 4000 (and still growing) can have for a business. Thats great advertising.
3. Why not have some fees associated with the job search and classified sections as well? Perhaps a resume section where people can upload their resumes might be a good idea.

I voted for donations, but am skeptical if they\'ll generate enough of the needed $$$.
It would open our eyes if perhaps OC staff could post their expenses even for basic equipment!
Also, I wouldn\'t mind not having all the features, but keep the groups and forums.
Pictures though.. are great...
