I was looking through some of the forums and I noticed that there are more men participating in the comments than women which led me to think: \"do the forums offer a balance representation of what the members of OXC (Orthodox Circle) are thinking?”
Is the low participation because the topics are gender driven for debate and knowledge of history leaving the women more comfortable in the Groups? Are men generally more well-read on the faith leaving the women insecure to comment, bullied with quotes from this person or that saint?
Basically, do the women fell insecure to comment or are they just not interested in the current topics?

I\'m a woman on the Circle but I don\'t get to log on to often as I only get access to a computer from work and do this stuff either on lunch time or after work. As for the forum, I have frequently commented on topics I find of interest.
You may be right about the topics. Women tend to be more social so maybe the Groups area is more appealing to them. I like the Forum if there is something of interest and it just depends on time and mood as to what I respond too.
Sometimes I just like reading what others write and really don\'t have anything more on a subject. Hope this helps!

I think that there are more women than men posting on the blogs, and more men on the forums. I might also add that there are some way out political opinions (mostly on the left) on the blogs, some of which I find offensive, and others who just don\'t realize how ridiculous they sound.

The question was: Do you think there is a balanced opinion in the forums?
I don\'t keep tabs on the numbers, or frequency or any of the statistics that might be of interest, but my general feeling is that we do not have very many active participants on the forums in general. Perhaps at best, there are twenty to thirty members who post with any regularity.
For instance, there are threads which have only gathered 5 - 10 views. This obviouvly indicates that most people do not even notice the boards.
I don\'t speculate on what might be the cause of this - mostly out of fear that it might be because people don\'t like the goofs I\'ve made with my moderator magic wand.

I remember when first joining that I was hesitant to post in the forums, until someone posted on a topic and it pushed a button, leading me to post a response. But if it weren\'t for that button, I might have just continued to blog. Now I post in the forums more than I blog.
I like knowing what people think but I don’t like being offended. Who does? So if everyone would just admit they think like me... :) Just kidding. :)
I hope people feel comfortable sharing their thoughts. It’s nice to know what people are thinking.
