Dear friends, Have you ever heard of Voice of the Martyrs? Christians of all confessions are suffering persecution for their faiths in Christ.
What about persecution in Eritrea? Is the official church Oriental Orthodox (non Chalcedonian)? What\'s going on in Eritrea? Isn\'t there Muslim activity there for persecution of Christians? What about the Eritrean Church? Do they discriminate against non church people?
Anyway, Eritrea is a kind of artificial nation, isn\'t it, that should have been part of Ethiopia? How did Eritrea come into existence? The Italians under Mussolini?
God save the good people of Eritrea and of Ethiopia.
God bless America.
Scott

In fact, the Eritrean Orthodox Church has been taken over by the Eritrean Government. I don\'t know whether the Church has persecuted anyone, but the Church is being persecuted by the official government. The Voice of the Martyrs or some Evangelical organizations tend to be critical when Orthodox disagree with proselytizing by evangelical evangelists.
Anyway, what is the Orthodox Church teaching on church and state?
Does the State rule the Orthodox Church?
Roman Catholics criticize the Orthodox for caesaropapism; but Roman Catholicism is papocaesarism. The pope of Rome rules the State and rules the world, every nation is under the control of the pope. Or so it seems. What does the New Testament teach on the relation of Church and State?
Did the popes of Rome become the successors to the Roman emperors?
Do popes seek to be kings in the earth?
On the other hand, does any State or government have the right to control or interfere in Orthodox Church matters?
Take care.
