Dear friends, Speaking of politics, which I
am loathe to do as it seems even more
divisive these days than religion, remember
Michael Dukakis? He is Greek Orthodox. If
one voted for a candidate because of his
faith, that would have been a reason for me
to have voted for him in 1988, which I did
not. At the time, I knew less about Greek
Orthodoxy, but it is a wonder if an
Orthodox Christian could ever be elected
U.S. President. Doesn\'t Orthodoxy
generally stay out of political controversy?
Anyway, someone just recently posted a
poll, a political poll, with a big U.S.A. flag.
And the only choice they gave us was
Barack Obama or Ron Paul. Just to vote
against Ron Paul, who I have little respect
for, (though I don\'t hate anyone), I would
not vote for Obama, either. I would vote
for a Democrat, but the only Democrat who
even seems moderate enough to me is Joe
Biden. I wonder if any candidate can get
us out of the mess in Iraq. I don\'t blame
George W. Bush for the Iraq situation; I
think Rumsfeld was more at fault in that
situation, in any case. Bush has poor
advisors. He trusted the wrong people.
The intelligence about Iraq was faulty,
everybody knows that now. But Saddam
Hussein should not have stayed in power,
however he was removed from office.
Perhaps it would have been better if the
Iraqi people could have removed him from
power.
Anyway, in good conscience, I can not tell
any one of you about voting.
If you disagree with me, that\'s okay.
Politics does not matter that much.
If I had my preference, I may not vote at all,
if my favorite candidate is not nominated.
The local priest here in Erie said to me he
doesn\'t vote, and I can not find fault with
that sentiment.
The whole candidate situation here in the
USA for US President is frightening.
I don\'t like Hillary, but I guess in His
providence, God can get us through
anything, even if Hillary Clinton or Mitt
Romney were elected. These two I have
misgivings and fears about, somehow,
though I am not given to fear. ISTM they
are disingenuine, and Romney surely
doesn\'t seem to believe in anything I can
support. He seems too pragmatic, and lacks
principles. Hillary seems to politically
correct, and though she seems to believe
in something more than Romney does, I feel
she would hurt rather than help this
country. We do not need anything but a
man in the White House in these days when
our enemies exploit women even worse
than they are exploited in a free America.
Islam is at war with America, even though
many free Muslims in America do not hate
our country.
We need a strong military leader, but I am
afraid to say, I don\'t know who can do the
job, any of the candidates, Republican or
Democrat. You can probably guess that I
prefer one of the Republican candidates,
but if it came down to Clinton versus
Romney, I would even feel more
comfortable with Mrs. Clinton that I would
feel with Mr. Romney. And I will not vote
for Mrs. Clinton.
Her husband nearly ruined this country
with his lies, and his sell out to Red China,
and his bombing of Serbian Christians on
Easter day, while he stopped bombing in
the Balkans on the Muslim holidays. He had
(has) more respect for Islam than he does
(did) for Orthodox Christianity. Go figure.
Clinton\'s bombing Kosovo is the greatest
war crime of the United States ever.
We don\'t need another Clinton in the White
House.
I guess Michael Dukakis would make a much
better candidate than Mrs. Clinton, now
that I think of it. He is quite a nice fellow.
Take care.
Excuse me if I upset anyone\'s political
feelings; they all have little to do with
whether we agree with Orthodox theology,
which is a much more important thing: we
need Jesus, not votes for our favorite U.S.
President candidate. We need mercy from
God, beyond all political opinions.
Always,
Scott
