I\'m diabetic, so donuts are a no-no. But I love coffee. Black, no cream, no sugar. I often cringe at the sweets at our parish\'s coffee hour tables because of all the usual sweets. I wish they had some veggies or cheeses and crackers more often....

You\'d probably love our coffee hour, then; only a few sweets for dessert, and most of the rest counts as lunch--salads, veggies, cheeses...entire meals...It\'s all quite wonderful. And coffee.
Though I have to say Greek/turkish coffee takes the cake. BEST. STUFF. EVER.
Well looks like I\'m in the minority here. I like tea....little bit of honey. I like both sweets and veggie stuff. We usually have both at coffee hour.
I just moved back to the East Coast from Denver and was happy to see donuts at coffee hour again! I\'ve found that the smaller the parish the better the coffee hour.
It\'s been so long since I\'ve seen donuts at coffee hour. Just snacks, sometimes healthy. Give me donuts! I love them. (Probably should have been a cop or something).
But, I roast my own coffee and bring that with me, being the coffee snob I am, I can\'t drink the stuff in the urn unless I have to.

Doesn\'t your coffee get cold by the time Liturgy is over? :)

I too bring my own coffee with me sometimes. I put a few packets of instant coffee in my pocket. Then at the right time, I tear them open, pour the contents into my mouth and swish it around with a big swig of water and swallow it down. After a minute or two I can start to feel the hair stand up on my head (what's left of it, anyway). Some will recognize this as "field coffee" which it is. I like my coffee "Army Strong"!
I remember the coffee that John Spatadol made for coffee-hour. I had forgotten that he was Greek. When I got my eyes back into the right sockets, I asked if he would be offended if I added hot water to my mug.
