On an icon one will sometimes see a main icon picture (let\'s say, of the saint) and then little pictures around the edge, each of which depicts an incident in the saint\'s life. Like this one, if I can convince the forum software to show it:
Anyhow, is there any special name for the little pictures?

I\'ve heard them referred to as \"life icons\". Not sure if that\'s technical or not. Sorry if that doesn\'t help.

No, Fr Cyprian, you are quite correct. Such icons are known as \"life icons\", or, \"vita icons\", after the Latin term for \"life\". (BTW, are you a tonsured monk, or a novice?)

Sorry, I hadn\'t come back to this thread for a while, and I didn\'t realize a question had been posed to me.
I am a Rhiasaphormonk. In between the two you\'ve mentioned. :)
