Kerygma explained the story pretty well.
It is one of the 12 great feasts of the church, and a really blessed one. The Entry of the Theotokos is tomorrow (for old calendar), and if you can find a church that is having a service tonight or tomorrow, you should go! You might learn even more about the story and the meaning of it.
