Here is the blurb from Wikipedia . . .
Saint Denis of Paris (also called Dionysius, Dennis, or Denys) is a Christian martyr and saint. In the third century, he was bishop of Paris. He was martyred in approximately 250, and is venerated especially in the Roman Catholic Church as patron of Paris, France and one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. The modern name \\"Denis\\" derives from the ancient name Dionysius, \\"servant of Dionysus\\".
FYI: The Chancellor of the OCA Archdioces of Canada is Father Dennis Pihach.
With love in Christ,
Fr Nicholas

Probably the most well-known saints with this name are St Dionysius the Areopagite, an Athenian judge who was converted by Apostle Paul, and St Dionysius of Aegina and Zakynthos. The saint is patron of this Greek island, and about every third or fourth person who comes from there is called Dionysius or Dionysia.
There are at least 30 other saints with that name as well. According to one Greek source, there is also a St Dionysia, a martyr whose feastday is December 6, though I haven\'t yet found any further information on her.
